Foundation for the Tri-State Community Announces Scholarship Recipients
Twenty young men and women have been awarded education scholarships by funds at the Foundation for the Tri-State Community, Inc., according to Foundation President Mary Witten Wiseman.
“The farsightedness and generosity of the individuals and groups who set up these funds make it possible for youth of this area to pursue their education goals,” Wiseman said. “Most of these scholarships are for college study.”
The Foundation is pleased to announce the following scholarship recipients for 2005:
From Paul G. Blazer High School:
Lauren Rae Richardson, daughter of Valerie Richardson, is attending the University of Kentucky. She received the Ashland High School Class of 1939, Ashland Women’s Club Scholarship, and Representative Don Farley Memorial scholarships.
Ben Robinette, son of Tim & Jenny Robinette, is attending the University of Kentucky. He received the Billy Gammon Memorial Scholarship.
Michael Brandon Pennington, son of Mike & Mindy Pennington, is attending Lenior-Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C. He received his scholarship from the Larry Joe Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Jamie Leslie, daughter of Joyce Leslie, is attending Marshall University. She received her scholarship from the Courtney Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund.
From Fulton County High School (Hickman, KY):
Alicia Marie Coleman, daughter of Thomas and Anita Bennett, is attending West Kentucky Community & Technical College. She received her scholarship from the Kentucky Migrant Scholarship Fund.
From Greenup County High School:
Amanda L. Williams, daughter of Garnet Williams, is attending Ashland Community and Technical College. The Oren and Patty Justice Scholarship Fund made her scholarship possible.
From Ironton High School:
Kesha Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Collins, is attending Ohio University Southern Campus. The Patricia L. Matthews Scholarship Fund provided the scholarship.
From Lawrence County (KY) High School:
Steven F. Blevins is attending the University of Cincinnati. The Lawrence County Goodwill Scholarship Fund made the award.
Kelley Baldridge was the recipient of the Ward and Irene Patton Outstanding Graduate Award.
From Our Lady of Fatima School (Huntington):
Alexandra Divita, daughter of Lisa Divita, and Michael Mayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Mays, were selected as the 2005 recipients of the Rachel Lauren Lavalley Fund scholarship.
From Marshall University:
Kaitlin Bedekovich, daughter of Lou and Pam Bedekovich, a graduate of Parkersburg Catholic High School, received the MU Chemistry Undergraduate Laboratory Initiative Award.
From Mayfield High School (Mayfield, KY):
Gerardo Antonio Herrera, son of Gerardo Herrera and Julia Hernandez, is attending Mid-Continent University. The Kentucky Migrant Scholarship Fund presented his scholarship.
From Montreat College:
Rachel Ann Trimble, daughter of Mark and Teresa Trimble and a graduate of Huntington High School, is studying music performance with a major in organ and minor in piano She was awarded the Huntington Steel & Supply Co. Scholarship.
From Russell High School:
Anthony Lawrence Tackett, son of Richard and Tina Tackett, is attending Ohio University Southern Campus. He received the Michael David Daniels Scholarship.
Ashley Michele Gill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Gill, is attending Lee University. She received the John P. Ward Memorial Scholarship.
From South Point High School:
Trisha Finley, daughter of Ray & Tammy Finley, is attending the Marshall University. The Ironton Area Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund presented her award.
From St. Lawrence/St. Joseph Catholic High School:
Kurt Jordan, son of Kenton and Gretta Jordan, is attending Ohio State University. He received his scholarship from the LP-JOMAR Fund.
From Symmes Valley High School:
Brittany Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brett Wilson, is attending Ohio University Southern Campus. The Lowell & Dorothy Gornall Viking I Scholarship made the award.
Tyler Bowman, son of Greg & Lisa Bowman, is attending Marshall University. He received the Dorothy, Lowell and George Gornall and Betty Cripps Viking II Scholarship.a
