32 Scholarship, Award Recipients

ASHLAND, Ky. - Educational scholarships and awards have been made to 32 young men and women from funds at the Foundation for the Tri-State Community, Inc., according to Foundation President Mary Witten Wiseman.
“The organizations and individuals that provided the funds for these scholarships make it possible for these talented students to pursue their educational dreams and goals,” Wiseman said. “These scholarships help offset the cost of college and other continuing education.”
The scholarship recipients for 2008 are:
From Paul G. Blazer High School, the recipients of the AK Steel Self-Reliance Award are Emily Greene, Hannah Sloan and Scott Tatman; recipient of the Ashland High School Class of 1939 Scholarship is Ruth Kloha; recipient of the Billy Gammon Memorial Scholarship is Matt Thomas; recipient of the Larry Joe Johnson Memorial Scholarship is Adam Johnson, and the recipient of the Courtney Thomas Memorial Scholarship and the Michael David Daniels Scholarship is Chace McKenzie.
From Boyd County High School, the recipients of the AK Steel Self-Reliance Award are Cody Ison and Hannah Maloy and the recipient of the Ashland Womens Club Scholarship is Jordan Stevens.
From Fairview High School, the recipients of the AK Steel Self-Reliance Award are Michael Miller and Gonnevieve Stamper; the recipient of the Representative Don Farley Memorial Scholarship is Tonya Hicks and the recipient of the Oren and Patty Justice Scholarship is Benjamin Daniel.
From Greenup County High School, the recipient of the Oren and Patty Justice Scholarship is Jessica Barney and the recipient of the Craig Thompson Memorial Scholarship is Cassandra Bentley.
From the Ironton Catholic Schools, the recipient of the LP-JOMAR Scholarship is Jerrod Laber.
From Ironton High School, the recipient of the Jamie Sue Barker Memorial Scholarship and the Lacey Parnell Memorial Scholarship is Chelsey Tackett and the recipient of the Ironton Area Kiwanis Club Scholarship is Katie Stewart.
From Lawrence County (Ky.) High School, the recipient of the Ward and Irene Patton Leadership Award is Kelsey Caudill.
From Pikeville High School, the recipient of the Judith Paige Johnson Memorial Scholarship is Ashley Martell.
From Russell High School, the recipient of the AK Steel Self-Reliance Award is Zachary Virgin.
From Spring Valley High School, the recipient of the Patricia L. Matthews Scholarship is Marissa Laney.
From Symmes Valley High School, the recipient of the Lowell and Dorothy Gornall Viking I Scholarship is Krista Ingles; the recipient of the Dorothy, Lowell and George Gornall and Betty Cripps Viking II Scholarship is Sarah Ashworth; the recipient of the Lowell, Dorothy, John and Susan Gornall Viking III Scholarship is Anna Burcham, and the recipient of the Lowell, Dorothy, Matney, Ian and Colin Gornall Viking IV Scholarship is Brittney Hamilton.
The recipient of the Huntington Steel & Supply Company Scholarship is Gregory Jimison, from
Huntington, W.Va.
The recipients of the Kentucky Migrant Scholarship are Destiny McDaniel, a graduate of Rockcastle County High School and Trena Reed, a graduate of Monroe County High School.
The recipient of the Marshall University Chemistry Undergraduate Laboratory Initiative Scholarship is Rebecca Ragland, from Georgetown, Ky.
