Greenup County’s Natural Beauty
January 22, 2008
Do you or a club you’re in have an interest in improving or enhancing Greenup County’s environment?
If you do, then the Foundation for the Tri-State Community may be able to provide financial support for the project, according to Mary Witten Wiseman, the foundation’s president. The foundation’s Greenup County Green Fund is currently looking for projects that will enhance the county’s natural beauty.
Last year’s recipients completed a number of special projects, Wiseman said. These included: The City of Raceland received $500 to assist in its Raceland Historical Tour and Beautification Project; the Girl Scouts, Wilderness Road Council, received $250 to conduct a Greenup County environmental project, and the Heritage Arts & Science Tourism Center received $150 for its Herbal Garden and 1800’s Landscaping project.
Detailed application information is available from the foundation at (606) 324-3888 or may be picked up at the foundation offices on the second floor of 1999 Winchester Avenue in Ashland. The deadline for applications is March 31. Awards are expected to be made by April 30.
The Foundation for the Tri-State Community, Inc. is a community foundation serving eastern Kentucky, southern Ohio and southwestern West Virginia. It is the oldest community foundation in the tri-state area.
