AREA CHARITY PROPERTIES, INC (Kentucky)  $4,000.00

The Neighborhood
This grant will assist Area Charity Properties, Inc. with the repairs/replacement of the heating and air conditioning system at its 2516 Carter Avenue location. Area Charity Properties is comprised of River Cities Harvest, CAReS, Community Kitchen and Federated Charities. The purpose of The Neighborhood is to improve the delivery of services to clients of the participating agencies.

CHILDWATCH, CASA OF BOYD COUNTY, INC. (Kentucky) $878.00
Interactive Play Program
This grant will purchase one set of activity books as well as the necessary supplies to implement this new program provided by CASA volunteers.  

HOSPICE OF HUNTINGTON (West Virginia) $4,000.00
Hospice House – Handicapped Accessibility
This grant will assist in making the Hospice House handicapped accessible.

IRONTON CITY SCHOOLS (Ohio) $1,995.00
Save A Life – AED Project
One complete AED package will be purchased for the Ironton City Schools with this grant.  

PREVENT BLINDNESS OHIO (Ohio) $750.00
Vision Care Outreach Program Expansion
This grant will assist in providing training materials for new vision screeners in Lawrence County, OH as well as supplying one set of screening equipment.

 

SECOND QUARTER FUNDING CYLCE

CHILDREN’S VISION REHABILITATION PROJECT (West Virginia) $1,400.00
Summer Institute

This grant will pay for the speakers’ fees and the supplies needed for this program, which will be held in Huntington during July 2005. This institute will be open to visually impaired children ages 6-12 who live in the Foundation’s service area.

COLLIS P. HUNTINGTON HISTORICAL RAILROAD SOCIETY (West Virginia) $2,000.00
Indoor Railroad Museum – 2nd Floor Remodeling
This grant will purchase the flooring needed for the second floor of the Museum as well as aid the Society in the repair of its air conditioning system.

IRONTON LAWRENCE COUNTY AREA CAO (Ohio) $1,000.00
Emergency Relief Fund
This grant will assist the CAO in the establishment of an emergency relief fund, which will assist clients with costs associated with utility hookups, food and transportation.

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF WV (West Virginia) $360.00
Achievers In Action
This grant will supply materials for the Achievers in Action program at the Cabell County Youth Empowerment Center, which targets youth 16-18 years of age. 

MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION (West Virginia) $650.00
Volunteer Recruitment
This grant will provide funds for background checks, training manuals, and volunteer brochures in order to increase the number of volunteers serving Cabell and Wayne counties.  

OUR LADY OF BELLEFONTE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION (Kentucky) $1,000.00
South Shore Meals On Wheels
This grant will enable the South Shore Meals on Wheels program to increase the number of meals served to elderly and disabled individuals in the South Shore area.

PARAMOUNT ARTS CENTER (Kentucky) $2,000.00
Health enriched by Arts (HEARTS) Outreach Program
Four rolling/locking carts and supplies will be purchased with this grant. The carts and supplies will be used in conjunction with the Arts Carts phase of the HEARTS program, which will be launched in the summer of 2005. The primary goal of the HEARTS program is to provide access to the arts to enhance the healing and well-being of the body, spirit and mind.

SOUTHWESTERN COMMUNITY ACTION COUNCIL (West Virginia) $2,000.00
Wheelchair Ramp Program
This grant will enable the Council to construct one ramp in conjunction with this program which provides physically challenged low-income elderly persons with a wheelchair ramp to facilitate safe and independent living conditions.    

THIRD QUARTER FUNDING CYCLE

HIGHLANDS MUSEUM & DISCOVERY CENTER Kentucky     $2,000.00
Restrooms Rejuvenated
This grant assisted the Museum in upgrading the restrooms on the lower and mezzanine levels of the building.

KIWANIS DAY CARE CENTER West Virginia  $2,500.00
Literacy Enhancement
This grant aided the Center in receiving accreditation by purchasing equipment and materials for seven classrooms.

MUSEUM OF RADIO AND TECHNOLOGY West Virginia   $2,500.00
Broadcasting Hall of Fame
This grant helped to provide materials to build a Broadcasting Hall of Fame to honor people who helped build the broadcasting industry in Huntington and the surrounding areas.

.ST. JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL Ohio  $2,500.00
Immigrant Project
This grant assisted students from St. Joseph High School (Ironton, OH) and Holy Family School (Ashland, KY) in the production of “We Are…”, a theatrical drama based on the contributions of immigrant populations in the area.  


FOURTH QUARTER FUNDING CYCLE

BOYD COUNTY COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM Kentucky   $1,000.00
First Book Boyd County
This grant purchased 400 books for this program, which provides books to at-risk children in Boyd County.

CANNONSBURG FOOD PANTRY Kentucky   $2,000.00
Walk Thru Cooler & Freeze
This grant aided in the purchase of a walk-thru cooler for the Pantry. 

CHESAPEAKE COMMUNITY CENTER Ohio   $1,000.00
Gym Window Insulation
This grant assisted the Center in purchasing a Plexiglas cover for a wall of windows, which will significantly reduce heat loss. 

GIRL SCOUTS WILDERNESS ROAD COUNCIL Kentucky   $1,500.00
Girl Scout Outreach Program
This grant purchased supplies for the outreach programs at Cannonsburg and Fairview Elementary schools in Boyd County.    

HELPING HANDS OF GREENUP COUNTY Kentucky   $1,200.00
Facility/Equipment Upgrade
This grant enabled Helping Hands to build shelving on the second floor for its off-season clothing.

HERITAGE ARTS, SCIENCE & TOURISM CENTER Kentucky   $1,000.00
Period Style Lighting
This grant aided the Center in purchasing electric ceiling fixtures, styled circa 1830, for the McConnell House in Greenup County.

MARSHALL CAMPUS CHRISTIAN CENTER West Virginia
Chapel Seating Replacement and Accessibility Improvement
The Campus Christian Center purchased stackable, padded chairs with this grant which replaces the wooden pews currently in place and allows for easier accessibility.
