• Boyd County Community Of Promise
  Boyd County's Promise is a community partnership working to assure that all the children of Boyd County have the opportunity to thrive and succeed. In alignment with America's Promise, Boyd County's Promise seeks to enable adults to connect our community's children and teens with five Promises essential to their growth and well-being. This grant will provide funding for training for the mentors and voluneters as well as marketing materials to promote Boyd County's promise. Funded, in part, by the Boyd County Fund.

• Building Independence
  This grant will be used to assist in the building of a handicapped accessible Habitat home.

• 2004 Ohio River Festival of Books
  This grant will provide funds to partially underwrite the expenses of the Kentucky authors attending this festival, which will be held in Huntington, W. Va., on Saturday May 1, 2004.

• Automated External Defibrillator Program (AED)
  One complete AED system will be purchased for the school system with this grant.

• W.O.R.D.S World of Reading and Discovery
  The Reading (books, feltboard stories, puppets, puzzles) and Listening (tapes, CDs, computer programs) components of this literacy program will be purchased with this grant. This program benefits children at the Norma Gray Early Learning Center.

• Transportation Services
  Transportation is a major part of Safe Harbor's services. This grant will assist the shelter with the purchase of a passenger van. Funded, in part, by the Putnam Agency Fund..

• Westmoreland Youth Development & Community Improvement Project
  This grant will assist in the renovation of the Vinson Little League field, located in Huntington's west end. The league provides programs for an estimated 500 children throughout the Westmoreland community and surrounding areas.

• WVSO Music Education Initiative: Advantage Valley Pilot Program
  This innovative pilot program incorporates three main components including (1) a scholarship program for disadvantaged schools and districts, (2) A CD Rom pre-and post concert educational resource and (3) a live Young People's Concert experience with the orchestra in Charleston, WV. This grant will enable the WV Symphony to create a packet for Kentucky teachers on how both the live concert and the CD Rom correlate with Kentucky mandated curriculum goals and objectives per grade level.

• Res-Q-Jack: Vehicle Stabilization
• This grant will help in the purchase of a Res-Q-Jack Vehicle Stabilization system for the Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department. This grant is contingent upon (1) written documentation of the additional agencies that will have access to the equipment; and, (2) written notification that the necessary funds have been raised to purchase the system.

• Chronic Disease Management Program (CDMP)
• This grant will be used to purchase an update to the SPSS software. Any residual funds may be used to purchase office or clinical supplies for the CDMP.

• ZOOM Zone
• This grant will assist in bringing the permanent exhibit, ZOOMZone, to the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center. This exhibit will provide an opportunity for visitors to participate in science and engineering experiments.

Welcoming People with Disabilities

• This grant will purchase electronic door openers and a wheelchair-height water fountain for the Gropius Studios.

Wayne National Forest Potential Enhancement Study

• This grant will provide matching funds toward a $20,000 grant from the Governors Office of Appalachia. This planning grants major goal is to find ways to enhance the Lawrence County community by utilizing the potential of the Wayne National Forest.
• MISSION WEST VIRGINIA West Virginia

• Computers Aiding Literacy Students & Tutors
• This state-wide initiative will upgrade and restore 250 donated computers for use by tutors and students involved in literacy training and tutoring. These matching funds will further this project in Cabell and Wayne counties.
  OUR LADY OF BELLEFONTE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION Kentucky

Pediatrics

• Playstation2 gaming units will be purchased with this grant. This is part of an overall $16,000+ project to update OLBHs pediatric department.

• The Magic Within Me
• This project will give the emotionally disturbed youth in Lawrence County an opportunity to experience the art process as they work with a professional artist. This grant will provide project supplies and assist in the artists fee.

• Camp Arrowhead Handicap Accessibility Project
• This grant will assist in developing Camp Arrowhead into a barrier free outdoor education learning and camping facility.
• UNLIMITED FUTURE, INC. West Virginia

• Commercial Food Processing Facility
• The Shared-Use Commercial Food Processing Facility Incubator is a 14,000 square foot production facility that will be available for existing and start-up food related businesses. This grant will go towards local match funds for the construction of the project. The grant is contingent upon Unlimited Future, Inc. securing the additional funds needed for this project.
• THIRD QUARTER FUNDING CYCLE

• Catlettsburg Main Street
• This grant will be used for startup expenses associated with the administration of this newly formed non-profit organization.

• Tri-State Multicultural Festival
• This grant will be used to help underwrite this Festival, which will be held in Huntingtons Ritter Park on September 4, 2004.

• Improving Climate Control - State 2
• This grant will assist in the installation of storm windows at the Jesse Stuart Foundation offices. This project will lower utility costs by 30% and will help preserve valuable and cultural memorabilia.

The Independent Life Skills Program

• This grant will provide funding for updated materials (videos, workbooks and life skills board games) for this program, which serves teens in Lawrence County, ages 12-18 years old.
• FOURTH QUARTER FUNDING CYCLE

• Sexual Assault Education Expense
• This grant will assist CONTACT in marketing and the development of resources geared for children under the age of eighteen.

• Computers and Software
• This grant will purchase a new veterinary office complete software package and training for this no-kill shelter located in Barboursville. The grant is contingent upon the procurement of a new/used computer system with the capability to run the new software. Any residual funds may be used toward the purchase of the computers.

Privacy Compliance

• An enclosed registration area within the volunteer office will be constructed with this grant. This area will provide a space so that information taken at registration may be recorded in a manner which affords confidentiality to patients and their families.

• Fire and Smoke Alarm System
• A new monitored smoke alarm system for the Shelter will be partially funded by this grant.
