  This grant will aid in the purchase of archery equipment complete with curriculum for grades 4-12 from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife for use in the after-school program as well as regular classes in the Fairview School District.

• Project Reality Check
  This grant will allow the Health Department to purchase SmokeCheck, a monitor to accurately, simply and quickly provide smokers with a visual display of carbon monoxide. The SmokeCheck will be used in Project Reality Check, a new program to raise awareness of the harmful effects of tobacco use in women, with a particular emphasis on pregnant women.

• Flatwoods Branch - Classroom Materials & Equipment
  This grant will fund the purchase of a HDTV receiver and other equipment necessary to allow the library to continue to receive the KET STAR channels.

• Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery
  Huntington will be one of the stops for the Bicentennial Celebration of the Lewis and Clark Expedition during September 19-21, 2003. This grant will help fund the events of this exciting celebration.

• Wonderland Playground
  This grant will aid in the development of a new community park in the City of Kenova, which will be located at the site of the old Ceredo-Kenova High School.

• Genoa Garden and Craft Project
  This grant will fund the construction of a handicapped accessible ramp on the trailer where the various craft activities will take place.

Music Stands for the HSO
This grant provides partial funding toward the purchase of music stands and storage cases for
the orchestra.

LAWRENCE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT....................................................................Ohio

• Health Department Improvement Project
  This grant will allow the Health Department to re-upholster its existing lobby furniture. The Foundation will also pay ½ of the new carpeting costs if the county can provide the matching funds by December 31, 2003.

• QUEST in the Ashland Area
  QUEST is an initiative to give P-16 teachers the tools to engage students in the learning process by creating an environment of mutual respect, trust and continuous improvement. This grant will assist in introducing and implementing the QUEST process in the Ashland and Huntington areas.

• Wayne County Youth Leadership Camp
  This grant provides funds for the camp fees and insurance for Wayne County's first leadership camp to be held in June 2003.

  This grant will aid Hope's Place in the purchase of a new examination table.

• Shelter Renovation Project
  This grant will be used toward the construction and materials to make the five restrooms of this facility handicapped accessible. This grant is contingent upon the Mission raising the additional funds needed for this project.

• Wish Granting
  This grant will help fund a wish of a terminally ill child who lives in Boyd or Greenup County.

Ashland House Development
Twelve new mattresses and two couches will be purchased for the Ashland House with this
grant. Established in 1987, Ashland House provides services in a residential setting to men
and women refered from the federal and state corrections systems.

WAYNE COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY............................................................West Virginia

$2,500.00

• Coodinating Home Building
  This grant provides partial funding for the heating/air conditioning system needed for a new Habitat house, which will begin construction in either late fall or early spring.

• JA Expansion Project
  Funds from this grant will be used to facilitate the establishment and expansion of the JA economics program in 21 classrooms within the Foundation's service area. This grant is contingent upon JA securing the additional funds needed for this project by August 1, 2004.

• Music Academy
  This grant will help support this program, which will bring together several significant arts and music organizaitons to offer talented and interested young musicians information and hands-on experience in developing their talents into music careers.

• The Learning Center
  This grant will be used to purchase 3 Dell computers, 3 Microsoft Office XP packages and Hooked on Phonics software for The Learning Center.

• Handicapped Accessible Playground
  This grant will help fund improvements to the playground at the Lawrence County Open Door School. This playground will be open to the public after school, weekends and during the summer.

• Meet President Lincoln
  Jim Getty, a world renowned first person interpreter of President Abraham Lincoln, will conduct three presentations, two geared toward an audience of area middle and high school students and the third directed toward community members and college students. His customized talk will include areas of local interests and concerns in regards to his presidency..
